Hiking Trails

Bend, Oregon is the hiking hub of the Pacific Northwest where adventures for all ages and abilities abound. From a variety of scenic Cascade Lake loops to the summits of South Sister or Broken Top to Tumalo Falls and Deschutes River Trail, get out and explore our vast trail systems year-round. Mountain Biking

Featuring some of the best single-track riding in the West, Bend is a mountain biker's dream. Head out and explore a labyrinth of renowned Central Oregon mountain bike trails and scenic byways throughout the year. With over 900 miles of single track from Phil’s Trail Complex to Mt. Bachelor and beyond, you’re sure to find something for all experience levels. Pack your own gear or head into Bend and choose from an assortment of bike shops for daily rentals and recommendations.

Smith Rock State Park

World-renowned hiking, climbing, and site seeing destination, Smith Rock State Park is a must-visit spot in Central Oregon located just 30 min from The Ranch. Hike along the banks of the Crooked River, or ascend the Misery Ridge trail for a challenge and beautiful views of the surrounding area. For those who prefer a more vertical journey, Smith Rock State Park offers world-renowned climbing (it’s rumored to be the birthplace of U.S. sport climbing). Fly Fishing

Cast a fly in our nearby spring-fed streams, including the Crooked, Deschutes, and Metolius Rivers, or one of our high lakes. Head out on your own, or ask about professionally guided excursions that include walk-and-wade or float-and-fish trips into some of the most scenic locales in Central Oregon—from the crystal clear waters of the Metolius River to the towering canyons of the Deschutes and Crooked Rivers.

Water Recreation

Perfect for cooling off during hot summer months, countless lakes and rivers offer abundant adventure on the water on your own or with a guide. Raft the iconic rapids of the Deschutes River, SUP the tranquil waters of Sparks Lake, kayak a mind-blowing number of alpine lakes along The Cascades, or spend the afternoon floating a stretch of The Deschutes that runs right through the center of Bend.

Mt. Bachelor Wilderness

Mt. Bachelor offers 3,365 feet of vertical, 101 runs to explore, and a 56km network of cross-country trails to enjoy throughout the winter months as well as guided snowshoeing and dog sledding. As the temperatures rise, spring skiing extends opening season with smaller crowds, relaxed vibes, and beautiful views. In the summer, you can find a plethora of hiking and biking trails, a disc golf course, zip line, and scenic chair lift rides to Pine Marten Lodge with sweeping views of the Cascades for more ways to explore in the off-season.

Snow Recreation

Zip down rolling hills in a toboggan and feel the crisp winter air against your face at Wanoga Sno-Park. Head out on a snowshoe adventure at Virginia Meissner, Swampy Lakes, or Edison Sno-Parks where you can stop in a cozy warming hut along the way. Forge fresh tracks through the snow on an exhilarating snowmobile or dog-sled ride. Or head to The Pavillion to show off your best ice skating moves.

Seek adventure with one of Central Oregon's award-winning tour companies as you paddle pristine mountain lakes or explore underground caves and rising volcanoes.
